One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 59 – Light Display

It’s Victoria Day and while most people really don’t care about the official celebrations for this day, everyone loves a long-weekend, drinks, fireworks and friends.

Being spoiled by the stunning (and long) fireworks shows in Japan, we were expecting something at least nice….. sadly no. We saw small fireworks dotted around from what people purchased themselves and nothing more -though many people said they saw a lovely display down at the Beaches.

Our light show was more along the lines of our neighbour’s plastic tree:

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 58 – Home Gathering

Had a great little gathering of some friends and it was a pleasure. I haven’t seen some of them since I left for Japan, so it was really great to just hang out together again.

We had a mini buffet and excellent warm weather. It was fantastic until I noticed the number of little flies that got in (@_@);

Me and Jeff spent the rest of the night trying to get rid of them and cleaning up (>_<)

(You’ll have to excuse the cheap drawings these days -I haven’t had a chance to relax from all of my writing work that’s due.)

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 57 – Lisa’s Birthday

Today was my wonderful Lisa’s Birthday and we all got together for dinner. I haven’t seen her parents for quite a while, so it was great to see them!

I missed spending time with my best friend, especially since we were always the ones to get into crazy adventures together back in the day…… and her parents know all too well what happens when we get together….

Ninja Hike Mode

It was so much fun to spend time with them that my cheeks hurt from smiling so much!

I forgot to take snaps of her gift wrapping (furoshiki style) and “card” but here’s a quick snap of what the puzzle card looked like (it looked much better in person -I swear):

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 56 – Asparagus Goodness

Today we had a yummy dinner of cheese-filled spinach ravioli mixed with sauteed asparagus.  It was yum.

I didn’t make the ravioli but the asparagus is very simple to do:

Wash asparagus and cut off approximately 2cm from the bottom.

Cut into 3cm pieces and set aside.

Finely chop garlic (I used 3 cloves because we’re a garlic-lovin’ family)

Heat a pan over medium with 6 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter.

Add garlic and cook for 30 second.

Add asparagus then sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cover and cook for 2 minutes or until the asparagus becomes a vibrant green.

Remove from heat and serve over pasta or on its own.

One Good Thing a Day – Project Day 55 – Sunrise and Bike Ride

Last night I couldn’t sleep at all, so I decided to stay up and finish some work before going back to bed….

yes well……. I didn’t end up going to bed at all and when I noticed the sun was slowly rising, I decided to take snaps of it instead:

Unfortunately for Jeff, I was making the constant snapping woke him up….and with me being hyper from lack of sleep and excitement of a beautiful day, I dragged him out of bed for an early bike ride!
