One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 37 – Afternoon at the Museum
We decided to take a little time off to relax and stay away from our computers. Naturally, our chosen day off was chilly and rainy, so outdoor delights were not too appealling. Instead we decided to go to Tokyo’s National Museum of Western Art.
Before entering the museum, you can enjoy some of Auguste Rodin’s famous pieces like The Thinker and my favorite:
We enjoyed a quiet afternoon looking at painting and enjoying the rare quiet inside the museum.
Claude Monet’s Water Lilies
and another favorite:
Paul Signac’s The Port of Saint-Tropez
It’s quite a large striking piece with a very lovely technique of pointillism. I love it because it has beautiful colour mixtures like Monet but with the added texture and precision that is Signac.
One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 36 – Staying In and Watching Movies
Since I’m still feeling off and it was a chilly/snowy day, I decided to stay in, get as much work done as possible in my clouded state while listening to the “100 best movie soundtracks” which actually cheered me up since it reminded me of lots of great movies like The Pianist, Platoon, Amadeus, Schindler’s List, Shawshank Redemption and so on.
It got us both in the mood to stay in, cuddle up and watch movies -but which ones??? So many to choose from!
For any of you who have not seen the movies mentioned above, please do check them out at IMDB
One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 35 – Ginger Lemon Goodness When You’re Under the Weather
I woke up feeling great this morning. The sun was shining bright, our little birds were chirping away and I went out to teach my little ones -and they were all unbelievably great!
On the way home…… wasn’t as great and I started to feel as bit off……with sneezes and sniffles (>_<) When I got home, it was time to make a pot full of ginger goodness that always helps when I feel a little under the weather. Not only is this drink a great antioxidant but it's also an excellent source of Vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, potassium, Vitamin B6, copper and manganese and the list goes on!
You will need:
A large fresh ginger root
Dried lemongrass (as much as you like)
Fresh Lemon
Honey
Optional: Cinnamon stick or powder
Fill a pot with water.
Slice the entire ginger root and place in the pot with the dried lemongrass.
Boil covered for 10-15 minutes.
Pour into a mug and add lemon juice and honey. Enjoy!
* If you would like the cinnamon version, add the cinnamon sticks or powder instead of lemongrass and boil for the same amount of time.
One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 34 – Sunny 19C Weather in February
One thing that really makes me happy is the absolutely stunning weather we’ve been having this winter. For example, a beautiful and sunny 19C day!
My entire day was happy and felt very positive just from the warm sun and endless blue sky. Ahh…… *^_^*
Here are just a few pictures from my area:
One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 33 – Ugliest Hat Ever
While this certainly didn’t make me feel happy, it certainly made me think about Tokyo fashion yet again.
I saw a young woman on the train this evening and she was wearing what could have been the ugliest hat I have ever seen in my life. To make it worse, this woman seemed quite stuck up and refused to move out of the way when someone wanted to walk past.
Anyway, this is a very quick sketch I did on my phone -it’s a horrible picture, because it’s a horrible hat.
This was basically a trucker hat with hunter’s ear flaps sewn on the sides. The bill was green, grey and black camo -in sparkles. The front had a swirl leaf pattern in purple, hot pink, white and black -in sparkles. and finally the flaps were black with brown and caramel matted fur sticking out like a wet cat.
Since it’s a woman in Tokyo wearing it, I’ll assume it’s a designer. If anyone knows who made this or why it was allowed to be sold, please message me!
