Quick Decorations for Halloween Sweets – Great for any occasion!

I simply didn’t have the time to make an effort for Halloween this year -in Japan, people don’t trick or treat….and I suppose I temporarily forgot I’m back in Canada (oops).

I went down to the local convenience store to grab a few little sweets in case children do come along but wanted to make it look more fun and festive than sad little chocolates, so I went to one of my favourite sites for free printables: Disney’s Family Fun (familyfun.go.com)

and quickly printed out these cupcake toppers. Cut them out and stuck them on the candies. The total time to complete was 5 minutes max.

End result:

Since we live in a condo with just a few families, I also wasn’t sure if they would trick or treat here (I did when I was little and living in an apartment), so I quickly grabbed some pictures online and used my beloved photoshop to replace the “Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas” writing with “Trick or Treaters are Welcome!”

Now to finish up last-minute work and get those movies rolling!

One Good Thing A Day – Project Day 76 – Happy Halloween!

I hope you will all have a safe and fun Halloween tonight *^_^*

I plan on watching my favourite Halloween-like movies: Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton is fantastic), Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp is brilliant as always) and of course, Nightmare Before Christmas (Tim Burton is simply a genius).

Waiting for the day I can get myself a cute puppy dog to call “zero”.

The Lockup, one of the top unusual izakaya in Tokyo. Almost anyone who has ever been to Tokyo knows of this place and while it’s certainly a place that everyone should check out at least once, especially for Halloween, it’s certainly not a place to go when you’re looking for good food to eat.

Most izakaya offer a lovely selection of delicious food but the Lock Up focuses more on “interactive food” rather than taste. You can mix drink ingredients in beakers with syringes and all while sitting in your very own prison cell. In typical Tokyo fashion, it’s an eclectic mix of things that don’t really go together…men dressed as monsters and killers, young women dressed in skimpy nurse outfits and all in a prison theme.

If you wouldn’t mind a noisy place to eat with strobe lights and people running around hitting the bars of your cell, then I recommend The Lockup, however the last time I went there, about a dozen people had a Birthday (all in about 1 hour), which means the lights go down, strobe lights at full power, staff members run around yelling and the Birthday song plays loud a clear on top of that.

Remember the curious squirrel from my time off nature shots?

I took that and made it into this for Threadless:

It’s totally different from my usual style and personality. What do you think?
